Position Summary

The Retail Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the dispensary, including maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures, compliance with state licensing requirements related to retail, and supervision of retail staff. The Retail Manager is responsible for maintaining Company brand standards in the retail environment and ensuring all patrons receive the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manages daily operations of the dispensary including ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, coaching and motivating staff, and ensuring the store is stocked, clean, in proper operational order, and adheres to Company brand standards
  • Manages dispensary recruiting process with assistance from Human Resources; creates orientation and training procedures for new hires and schedules training shifts;
  • Manages performance of retail employees, including providing growth and learning opportunities, assisting with conflict resolution, providing annual reviews, and issuing corrective action as needed
  • Supervises Assistant Retail Managers and ensures policy and procedural information is communicated and followed uniformly throughout the department; holds AMs accountable to meeting performance standards and facilitates a team environment
  • Monitors daily cash handling procedures and transactions to avoid discrepancies; monitors operating and financial metrics to control costs and enhance dispensary profitability and patient care
  • Maintains comprehensive understanding of industry rules and regulations related to retail in order to uphold compliance standards
  • Performs data analytics to compare sales and inventory, i.e. pivot tables, to assess trends and project future needs; studies product sales patterns trends and communicates across departments to inform production schedules and inventory levels
  • Manages time off requests and completes departmental payroll requirements on a biweekly basis; holds employees accountable for following attendance policy and call-out procedures
  • Coordinates with senior leadership to create and maintain departmental budget
  • Works closely with security team to ensure employee and patron safety within retail facility
  • Addresses patron needs and builds relationships, including responding to calls or emails requesting product information

 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 3-5 years of management experience in a high-volume retail establishment required; prior experience in cannabis a strong plus
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in business management or hospitality preferred
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel; knowledge of pivot tables and basic formulas required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate, inspire, train, and coach talent
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and proactive about identifying areas of growth and development for the betterment of the business
  • Adaptable and open-minded when troubleshooting new procedures or implementation of new systems
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the benefits of medicinal cannabis use preferred
  • Ability to function within cross-platform software environment
  • Commitment to ensuring a secure facility and make sure all staff comply with established safety and security procedures
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings or late evenings as needed according to the department
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to push and pull large carts filled with products (100 – 200 lbs)
  • Ability to stand and walk for at least 8 hours at a time

Workplace Environment

  • Busy retail environment with moderate noise level
  • Indoor environment; some exposure to seasonal temperature changes
  • Loud at times, music, conversations and radio communication constantly
  • High volume work during peak hours, events and holidays
