THE COMPANY - Started in a the mid 1990’s and will reach $100 million in sales in 2019. Over the past 22 years the company has become the leading manufacturer in their space. They are a designer and manufacturer of large, custom built metal fabrications. Their “customer first” philosophy has resulted in steady growth, committed relationships with over 100 customers and a reputation as the “Gold Standard” in the industry. They do business in all 50 states and have installations in 13 countries. They have manufacturing operations in the Milwaukee, WI area totaling over 300,000 square feet. They have expanded production capacity seven times over the past 20 years. The company has won numerous industry awards and is known as one of the best places to work in their community.
This is an outward focused, sales driven company with a keen appreciation for “voice of customer”. They consider their core strengths to be Engineering, “Turn Key” design capability, “Quick Manufacturing” process, a Nimble Quote to Order to Manufacturing process and a high degree of employee tenure.
Recent growth has been stellar. In 2015 they had 90 employees. Today they have nearly 300. They have tripled sales since 2015 and are on track to achieve $100 million in 2019. This growth has been achieved organically vs. acquisition. They sell to systems integrators, original equipment manufacturers, end users and distributors.
Their steel structures are used by companies of all sizes, including most all national retailers, distribution and fulfillment companies as well as government and military entities.
Their high-tech manufacturing tools include AutoCAD 2018, Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, Tekla structural software, STAAD Pro structure analysis and design software, robotic welding, CNC drill presses, plasma steel cutting and electrostatic powder paint systems.
They strive to provide a “Total Customer Experience” vs. Customer Service. That means placing themselves in the customers shoes to understand how they might help before the customer asks, shipping on time, providing superior quality, and completely understanding their customers process and needs before design and production. THE OPPORTUNITY – This is a role for an outgoing, engaged leader who likes to coach, mentor, train and inspire. Someone who likes spending time on the floor engaging with people to help them succeed. This a company that believes in servant leadership supported by goals, KPI’s and metrics. Employees are appreciated, receive clear direction and are held accountable. The role of senior leadership is to provide a place people want to come to, tools to do their jobs, remove obstacles and stay out of the way. Theirs is a proactive culture that encourages people to continually improve……see a problem, fix the problem and embrace change. Direct reports include two production supervisors; a paint supervisor; a shipping supervisor; a machine shop supervisor. There are 70 people total.
KPI’s you will be responsible for include:
- Ontime delivery
- Quality PPM
- Labor efficiency
- 5S in every area
- OSHA compliance
- Employee development
Key contacts you will engage with often include project managers, engineering and procurement. You will own production scheduling, performance evaluation, process improvement, plant budgeting and facility maintenance. You will report to the company COO and have a seat at the table as it relates to setting company strategy.
