Senior Embedded Software Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY – Our client has made the decision to hire a Sr. Design Engineer – Embedded Systems as part of their five-year strategic growth plan. The Sr. Embedded Systems Engineer is the primary technical resource for developing new products for intelligent electro/mechanical and digital, lighted signs used in commercial and department of transportation applications.  This position is responsible for driving and technology development in collaboration with product management and engineering teams. The organization will look to you for to define and drive development of embedded systems for new product development including architecture design, system design, firmware, board level design, schematic creation, board level timing analysis, simulation, integration of hardware, software and chipsets, component specifications, sourcing and vendor interface. You will have a high level of project ownership and be the go-to person for problem-solving through all stages of the development process.  You will also be responsible for presenting information and new ideas to be implemented into new and existing products and provide user training on products and systems.  You will play a lead role in working with local and extended team members and PCBA suppliers to ensure product development processes, product specifications, and testing requirements are defined and met.  This is a company that respects and encourages “out of the box” thinking and solutions. The position reports to the Director of Engineering and has a high level of interaction with other senior level engineers as well as marketing management.  



Required Experience

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in C/C++ programming.
  • Experience with microcontroller architecture, digital circuit design and various communication protocols such as SPI, USB, I2C, UART
  • Hardware and firmware experience in wireless communications (Bluetooth, 915MHz, 2.4Ghz, RF, ZigBee, WLAN, modems, and small networks).
  • Experience with low-power circuit design, DC/DC converters, battery-based design, power management methods and sensor integration.
  • Experience with product development cycles and testing strategy.
