National Sales Director

Lead U.S. Medical Device Sales for a European Company that has exploded to selling into 50 countries Worldwide! Our client, a $20 million division of a $1 billion parent company is thriving to be a full line colon and rectal med device company by marketing their proven innovative products to the $100+ million marketplace. You will be the executive sales leader shaping a new go-to market strategy and will have a significant impact managing and growing the U.S. distribution channel.

 

Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • The scope of the role is to build a successful medical device business which includes leading the sales efforts and revenue contributions via 4 direct reps, 5 independent sales representatives and 3 rep groups (additional 16 reps) in the United States to the physician office and hospital marketplace and through GPOs

 

  • The focus is on sales leadership, increasing market penetration and product usage, new channel strategy, compensation planning, creating new pricing methods/strategy, review and conduct negotiations, and implementing effective metrics and reporting

 

  • Recruit, lead, develop, and retain a high performance direct and independent sales team driving relentless focus on core business development activities that lead to growth and market expansion

 

  • Proactively identify changes in healthcare, stay abreast of domestic regulatory issues (CPT, FDA, etc.) and communicate and coordinate with the Global Director of Sales at the European headquarters to modify strategies and tactics accordingly

 

  • Nationwide and some international travel, spending approximately 60% of time in the field with customers and sales team

 

  • Develop creative plans to ensure successful introduction of new products and broader adoption of existing products throughout the United States

Essential Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Sales experience with at least 5+ years in direct medical device sales, preferably General Surgery 
  • 5+ years in sales management leading national teams 
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite of products, especially Excel spreadsheets 
  • Proven successful track record of growing a startup or small company into a medium or large sized company 
  • Entrepreneurial, detailed oriented and self-motivated with an endless pursuit of executing on the vision and strategy
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or sciences
  • Italian as a second language a plus
